Farming in Great Longstone since 1900
The Cox family has farmed at Church Lane Farm in Great Longstone since 1900. More than 125 years later, brothers Dan and Tom Cox are the fourth generation to run the farm, with their children - the fifth generation - already showing a keen interest in farm life.
The family continues to combine traditional livestock farming with new ways for local people and visitors to buy directly from the farm.
A working Peak District farm
Church Lane Farm remains a busy working farm, home to two cattle herds.
Bleaklow Pedigree Charolais produces pedigree Charolais cattle and prize-winning stock bulls, while the farm's commercial herd of suckler cows and Charolais bulls produces quality store calves.
From the farm to your fridge
Fresh, local milk is pasteurised on site before being sold through the self-service dairy opposite the farmyard.
Visitors can pick up fresh unhomogenised milk and milkshakes from the 24/7 vending machine, alongside fresh eggs, with more produce, including Peak District meat, coming soon.
