Farming in Great Longstone since 1900

A fourth-generation family farm producing fresh milk and quality livestock in the Peak District.

Farming in Great
Longstone since 1900

Four Generations of Farming

Church Lane Farm has been home to the Cox family since 1900, with farming here for more than 125 years. Today, brothers Dan and Tom Cox are the fourth generation to run the farm, while their children - the fifth generation – are already showing a keen interest in following in their footsteps.

Still very much a working family farm, Church Lane Farm is home to two cattle herds. Bleaklow Pedigree Charolais produces prize-winning pedigree stock bulls, while the commercial herd of suckler cows and Charolais bulls produces quality store calves.

Over the years, the farm has continued to evolve. Today, alongside raising livestock, the family sells fresh pasteurised, unhomogenised, local milk, alongside milkshakes, eggs and other produce.

Visitors can also book a stay with Church Lane Farm, either on the small, peaceful five-pitch touring site or in one of the farm's holiday cottages.

More than 125 years after the Cox family first arrived, Church Lane Farm remains what it has always been: an authentic working family farm at the heart of Great Longstone.
